Nine squares. Every part of your life gets one.

Feng Shui is best known for arranging homes. We use its nine-square grid, the nine palaces, to lay out the nine areas of your life.

Nine realms, three by three, with health in the centre. That arrangement is the Lo Shu, the palace grid Chinese practice has long used to describe where life happens.

The map also includes your personal directions and the yearly star cycles.

What it calculates

  • Your Kua number and associated directions
  • The nine-palace arrangement
  • Annual and monthly flying-star cycles
  • How they shape your board of nine realms

What it brings to your Manual

Feng Shui gives the Manual its shape. Every realm sits in a palace, and the board is what the rest of your map is read across.

  • HEALTH & FORTUNE: The centre square, which touches all eight around it.
  • HELPFUL PEOPLE & SPIRITUAL LIFE: The palace this tradition associates with mentors, support and travel.
  • WEALTH & SELF-WORTH: The palace the tradition associates with abundance, and how a year moves through it.

Your problems aren’t separate. The board shows why.

The board puts different concerns beside one another: family and work, relationships and resources, creativity and support. This gives you a way to move between them without treating every question as separate.

Applying this framework to a combined personal map is Soul Cartography's own work. The arrangement is traditional. What we lay over it is ours, and we say so.

This is a map of your life, not your home.

This part of the map works from personal calculations and the palace framework.

A reading of a particular home needs information about that space. That is a different practice to the one offered here.

The grid is fixed. The year moves through it.

Annual and monthly layers bring time to the board. Open a realm to see which themes the map gives the period you have chosen.

Your Kua number orients the fixed grid to you, which is why the setup asks for your birth year.
