Gate 20 and Gene Key 20: The Now
Gate 20 is the Now, a gate in the Throat centre on the Integration circuit. As Gene Key 20, it runs from the Shadow of Superficiality, through the Gift of Self-Assurance, to the Siddhi of Presence. It is Hexagram 20 of the I Ching. The Sun passes through it each year from about May 21 to May 26.

Gate 20 is about now and the gift of living in the present moment through the body
In Human Design, Gate 20 sits in the Throat centre, in the Knowing stream of the Integration circuit. Integration circuitry wires the self straight to survival. It is the fastest, most self-referential wiring in the design — it acts before it explains, and it only works when it is acting for itself.

The Shadow, Superficiality. You are always on the way to something: phone in hand, half-listening, planning the next thing while this one is still happening. It looks productive. It feels like being nowhere. The people you love speak to you and receive a nod. They can tell you are not quite there.
The Gift, Self-Assurance. The way through is to come back here, again and again, through your body. Feet on the floor, one breath, one conversation at a time. When you speak from there, you don’t need to rehearse. That’s Self-Assurance: trusting what comes out when you are present.
The Siddhi, Presence: pure presence, with no one rehearsing or reviewing, only this moment fully lived.
Busyness keeps you on the surface. Presence is what lets you land.
