Sun in Cancer: Sidereal and Tropical
The Sun is identity: what you are building yourself around. In Cancer, your identity is shaped by feeling: what moves you, who needs you, what you would protect. Cancer is a water sign, cardinal, ruled by the Moon. A sidereal Sun in Cancer is often a tropical Sun in Leo.

Sun in Cancer: your identity is shaped by feeling: what moves you, who needs you, what you would protect
The Sun is identity: what you are building yourself around.
Your identity is shaped by feeling: what moves you, who needs you, what you would protect. That emotional intelligence is real. Used consciously, it is care. Unconsciously, it becomes armour.
Cancer is water, cardinal and ruled by the Moon
The element sets the temperament: fire acts, earth builds, air connects, water feels. The modality sets the motion: cardinal starts, fixed holds, mutable adapts. The ruler is the planet that carries the sign’s agenda.
Your Sun may be in Cancer in one zodiac and not the other
The tropical zodiac is tied to the seasons; the sidereal zodiac to the stars. They have drifted about 24 degrees apart, almost a whole sign. So a planet in the first two-thirds of tropical Leo usually sits in sidereal Cancer, and a tropical Cancer Sun is often sidereal Gemini.
Neither is wrong. The tropical chart describes how you meet the world; the sidereal chart is the sky as it actually stood. We read both, plus True Sky and the draconic chart, and make sense of all four as one picture.

Is my Sun in Cancer sidereal or tropical?
It depends on the degree. The zodiacs are about 24° apart, so a late-Cancer tropical Sun is usually sidereal Cancer too, while an early one is sidereal Gemini. Your chart settles it.
