Gate 21 and Gene Key 21: The Hunter/Huntress
Gate 21 is the Hunter/Huntress, a gate in the Heart (Ego) centre on the Tribal circuit. As Gene Key 21, it runs from the Shadow of Control, through the Gift of Authority, to the Siddhi of Valour. It is Hexagram 21 of the I Ching. The Sun passes through it each year from about March 31 to April 5.

Gate 21 is about control and the power to eliminate obstacles through determination
In Human Design, Gate 21 sits in the Heart (Ego) centre, in the Ego stream of the Tribal circuit. Tribal circuitry carries support — resources, care, the bargain. It is about who is provided for and on what terms, and it is negotiated rather than argued.
Lived consciously: The ability to cut through obstacles with clear decision and action. Control becomes focused power. The person removes what doesn't belong.
Lived unconsciously: Forceful control that dominates. Cutting too deeply, eliminating what was needed. Power becomes aggressive and destructive.

Gene Key 21 moves from Control to Valour
The question this key keeps asking: “If I let go, will it hold? Who will handle it otherwise?”
The Shadow, Control. You keep a hand on everything: the plans, the money, the way the household runs. Letting someone else do it means watching them do it differently, so you step in. It feels like responsibility. To the people around you it feels like supervision, and you end up tired, doing it all yourself.
The Gift, Authority. The way through is to run your own life fully and let other people run theirs. Do the thing first, do it well, and let them watch instead of telling them how. That’s Authority: the kind people follow because you went first, not because you held on.
The Siddhi, Valour: the courage to give up control entirely, trusting life so fully that you stand open-hearted whatever comes.
Control grips everything. Authority stands on its own ground and lets the rest move.
