The Shadow, Doubt. Your mind is built to test things, and when it has nothing useful to test, it tests you. Every decision gets a second opinion, then a third. You find the holes in your plans and in other people’s, and the people you love can feel interrogated. The doubt never runs out, because there is always one more possibility.
The Gift, Inquiry. The way through is to point the questions outward and enjoy them. Treat doubt as curiosity: ask, look, test the idea, then let the answer stand for now. That’s Inquiry: a mind that goes looking instead of going round in circles.
The Siddhi, Truth: resting in a truth that doesn’t need proving, where doubt has dissolved and there’s nothing left to ask.
Doubt aimed inward wears you down. Aimed outward, it discovers things.
