Mercury in Virgo: your mind is precise and analytical
Mercury is the mind: how you think, learn and talk.
Your mind is precise and analytical. You catch what others miss. The cost is perfectionism in thought. Not every analysis needs to be flawless before you speak.
Virgo is earth, mutable and ruled by Mercury
The element sets the temperament: fire acts, earth builds, air connects, water feels. The modality sets the motion: cardinal starts, fixed holds, mutable adapts. The ruler is the planet that carries the sign’s agenda.
Your Mercury may be in Virgo in one zodiac and not the other
The tropical zodiac is tied to the seasons; the sidereal zodiac to the stars. They have drifted about 24 degrees apart, almost a whole sign. So a planet in the first two-thirds of tropical Libra usually sits in sidereal Virgo, and a tropical Virgo Mercury is often sidereal Leo.
Neither is wrong. The tropical chart describes how you meet the world; the sidereal chart is the sky as it actually stood. We read both, plus True Sky and the draconic chart, and make sense of all four as one picture.

Is my Mercury in Virgo sidereal or tropical?
It depends on the degree. The zodiacs are about 24° apart, so a late-Virgo tropical Mercury is usually sidereal Virgo too, while an early one is sidereal Leo. Your chart settles it.
