What is my Human Design type, and what's my strategy?
Human Design describes five Types, each defined by how its energy works. Generators, about a third of people, have sustained life-force energy built to respond to what life brings. Manifesting Generators share that engine, with more speed and a habit of skipping steps. Projectors are built to guide and to see others clearly, not to grind. Manifestors are here to initiate, and need to inform people before they act. Reflectors, the rarest, mirror the health of the people and places around them.

The fuller answer
Your Type is the most useful single fact in your chart. It explains why advice that works for your friends can leave you depleted.
Each Type has a Strategy, a simple rule for moving through life with less friction: to respond, to wait for the invitation, to inform, to wait a full lunar cycle. Each also has a signature feeling when it is working (satisfaction, success, peace, surprise) and a not-self feeling when it is not (frustration, bitterness, anger, disappointment). If you know your not-self feeling well, the Strategy has usually been overridden.
Most advice is written for one kind of energy, and it does not suit every Type.
Much productivity advice assumes one kind of energy: set the goal, push through, make it happen. For some people that works. For a Projector, it tends to lead to burnout and bitterness. For a Generator, it leads to being very busy with the wrong things. The same advice produces different results, and each person assumes the problem is them.
Knowing your Type is not a box.
It is permission to stop using a strategy that was never designed for your engine.
Your not-self feeling is a signal, not a mood to manage.
Every Type has a feeling that appears when you are out of alignment. Generators become frustrated. Projectors become bitter. Manifestors become angry. Reflectors become disappointed. Manifesting Generators often feel frustration and anger together.
That feeling works like a warning light. When it appears, it usually means you began something you were not asked into, pushed something that did not respond, or forgot to tell people what you were doing.
It is uncomfortable. It is also very reliable.
Your signature feeling is quieter than most people expect.
Every Type also has a signature, the feeling that tells you that you are on track. For Generators it is satisfaction. For Projectors, success. For Manifestors, peace. For Reflectors, surprise. Manifesting Generators know satisfaction and peace together.
People expect the signature to be dramatic. It is not. It is the good tiredness after a right day, the sense of being recognised, the calm after doing what you meant to do.
If you have been chasing excitement and wondering why it never lasts, you may have been looking for the wrong signal.
What your report covers

A look inside
Sample report · a fictional reader
You are a Projector who has spent fifteen years working like a Generator. You are not burnt out because you are weak. You are burnt out because your insight was never invited.
Your energy is built for insight in bursts, not output in shifts.
You are not designed for eight hours of steady output. You are designed to see: what someone needs, how a system could work better, what the team is missing. That is a real gift, and it runs in bursts. Matching the people around you hour for hour is asking a scalpel to do the work of a shovel.
Bitterness is the signal that your insight arrived uninvited.
You see the answer, you offer it, and it falls flat. Weeks later someone else says the same thing and is thanked for it. You feel bitter, then guilty for feeling bitter. Your advice was not wrong. It was unrequested. Lived unconsciously, this repeats in every team you join. Lived consciously, you learn to wait for the question, and your insight finally lands.
For two weeks, offer advice only when someone asks for it.
You will want to. Do not. Instead, put your energy into being visibly good at what you love, and notice who begins to ask. When they do, give them everything. Then rest without apology. Rest is part of how you work, not a break from it.
How Soul Cartography reads it
Type describes your energy, not your identity. The aim is not to label you. It is to understand why you have felt tired, frustrated or bitter in exactly the situations you have, and what would change if you stopped working against your own engine.
Type is always held within the rest of the design, because two Generators can live very differently. It is also checked against your other systems, which often describe the same energy from another angle.
Then it is written for you, in a real voice, not from a template. No sun-sign paragraphs. No definitions you could find on the first page of a search. Every line has to be true for your chart and nobody else's.
The method is not published, the same way a good doctor does not hand you the textbook. What can be said is this: every system is one lens on you, and none of them is read alone. Where they line up, the report says so. Where they pull apart, it says that too, because that is often the part you recognise first.
Questions people ask
I'm a Generator. Isn't that just the common, boring type?
It is the common Type, not the dull one. Generators carry the sustained life force that keeps the world running. Many spend years doing things they never responded to, and wonder why they feel frustrated. A Generator who begins to follow their Strategy often describes it as a turning point.
What if I don't agree with my type?
Then test it. Human Design asks for that anyway: live the Strategy for a few weeks and observe what happens. The report includes a simple experiment for exactly this. Your experience has the final word, not the chart.
Do I need my exact birth time?
It helps. Some of what is read moves every few minutes, so the closer your time, the sharper the report. If you only know it roughly, use your best guess and the report will say which parts lean on it. If you don't know it at all, you still get a real report. It simply won't claim to know what it can't.
How do I get my report?
By email, as a private link, within 24 hours. It is yours to keep. One purchase, no subscription. Most people come back to it later, often right after the thing it describes happens again.
