Human Design

Your design is the operating manual you never got. How you're built to decide, where your energy actually comes from, and why forcing it the way everyone else does keeps wearing you out.

The short answers

What does my Human Design chart mean?

Human Design is a system created in 1987 by Ra Uru Hu. It blends astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah tree of life and the chakra system into one chart, called the bodygraph. The chart is calculated from your birth moment and from a second moment roughly three months earlier. It describes the mechanics of how you are built: how your energy works, how you are designed to make decisions, and where you are consistent versus where you absorb other people.

What is my Human Design type, and what's my strategy?

Human Design describes five Types, each defined by how its energy works. Generators, about a third of people, have sustained life-force energy built to respond to what life brings. Manifesting Generators share that engine, with more speed and a habit of skipping steps. Projectors are built to guide and to see others clearly, not to grind. Manifestors are here to initiate, and need to inform people before they act. Reflectors, the rarest, mirror the health of the people and places around them.

What is my Human Design authority, and how do I decide?

In Human Design, Authority is the part of you built to make decisions. For almost everyone, it is not the mind. The mind is excellent at analysing, researching and explaining. It is poorly suited to deciding what is right for you, because it can argue convincingly for anything. Authority lives in the body: a gut response, an emotional wave settling over time, a quiet immediate knowing, or what you hear yourself say aloud.

What does my Human Design profile mean?

A Human Design profile is made of two numbers, such as 1/3, 5/1 or 6/2. Each number is a line from one to six, and each line describes a role. Line 1 is the Investigator, who needs solid foundations. Line 2 is the Hermit, naturally gifted and in need of time alone. Line 3 is the Martyr, or Experimenter, who learns by trial and error. Line 4 is the Opportunist, whose life moves through their network. Line 5 is the Heretic, onto whom others project their hopes. Line 6 is the Role Model, who lives in three distinct phases.

What do defined and open centres mean in Human Design?

The bodygraph has nine centres, the shapes on the chart. Each handles a different kind of energy: thinking, inspiration, expression, identity, willpower, emotion, life force, instinct and pressure. A coloured centre is defined: that energy runs consistently in you, the same way each day. A white centre is undefined or open: there, you take in the energy of those around you, and often amplify it.

What is my Human Design incarnation cross?

In Human Design, the Incarnation Cross is formed from four gates: the positions of the sun and the earth at your birth, and the same two at the design moment about three months earlier. Together they describe the overarching theme of a life. It resembles a purpose, but it is less a task to complete and more a thread that runs through everything you do.
